Google Adwords: Higher Traffic and Sales in 2 Hours or Less!

There are various ways to purchase highly targeted advertising at very low prices. Google AdWords is one simple and quick way to to do this. Regardless of your budget, you can actually get your text ads appearing on search result pages within minutes! You can also target your ad to a specific language or country.

Pricing is based on the position in which your ad is shown but there is no minimum amount required in order to open an account. Google positions your ad based on how many users click on it over time. Current rates range from $15-$10 (per thousand ads shown) for positions 1-3, and $8 per thousand for positions 4-8.

According to Google, Adwords text ads have an average click through rate 4-5 times higher than banner ads. I have generated click through rates as high as 36% by using the guidelines outlined below. I frequently test ads for as little as $1!

I've been using Google Adwords since it was first introduced and I've found it to be very effective for testing ads. My best click through rate so far has been 36% and the lowest being 0.98%! On average my ads get a 20% click through rate on very focused keywords and search terms and 6% on general popular relevant keywords. Here is what I do.

When promoting my products I choose keywords/search terms that are very specific to generate highly qualified prospects. I get very few searches, but a very high click through rate. I then keep the ad running for a very long time.

Example:

Instead of using keyword 'printer' for an ad about printers, I use the exact model of the printer e.g. 'Lexmark Z11' or less focused 'Lexmark printer'. I also put the search term in the title section. This simple trick produces very high click through rates.

Here are some guidelines:

1. Avoid keywords that are too general. Because ads are paid for on a CPM basis, you are likely to spend money quickly with keywords that are too vague. Avoid general keywords like 'business' or 'free'. Taylor each keyword to your offer and use relevant terms/words in both the title and the ad body.

2. Give Google users a compelling reason to click on your ad link. The easiest way to do this is to provide something of value for free.

3. Use a different ad for each keyword or search term. This increases relevance and the likelihood that Google users will click on it.

4. Test and monitor your ads. Refine and fine-tune your ad to maximise click throughs. With Google you can do this in real time!

Google's Adwords has become very popular and Google have had to increase the number of ad displays per keyword search from 3 to 8. You can open an account and test this service by going to:

Google's AdWords Select(tm) Groundbreaking Program

One of the absolute best online marketing processes available to any business today is Google's AdWords Select advertising program. It produces immediate results within minutes after being setup, drives highly qualified traffic via selected keywords and can be monitored and modified on a 24/7 basis via Google's excellent online interface. There are no hidden fees - it costs a mere $5. USD to setup a campaign and requires a credit card submission at startup. We highly recommend this interactive marketing process to all of our clients and incorporate an AdWords Select component with all of our marketing campaigns.

Google's Pricing Model

Google charges you on a CPC ("Cost per Click") basis - you only pay for each clickthrough to your web site from Google's, no more no less. You don't pay for "impressions" (number of times someone views your ad) like many first generation Internet advertising models - it's truly a results driven marketing process.

Keywords costs can vary tremendously ranging from $.05 to $11. USD or more per keyword - Google assigns a "minimum cost per click" for specific keywords based on "market value" and "performance history" via Google's AdWords Select program history. Be prepared to pay a much higher rate for very popular keywords and this is a moving target all of the time - the more popular this program becomes the more you will be forced to pay for selected popular keywords.

Creating your Sponsorship Ad

Your Ad's position is based on a combination of the CPC ("Cost per Click") you selected and relevancy of your ad - if your ad and keywords are relevant and drive clickthroughs, then your ad will rise in position on the sponsored column versus your competitors. This is an innovative feature and helps to distinguish Google's program from all other PPC ("Pay per Click") campaigns (Overture and their primary competitors) - most of these programs have an "economic bias" built into them; i.e. whoever pays the highest fees gets the top placement.

Dynamic Ad Placement

Google's unique AdWords Discounter keeps track of your costs per click versus your competitors. You select the maximum amount you want to pay for your keywords and the ranking algorithm keeps track of your keyword costs, ensuring you only pay one cent above the CPC ("Cost per Click") cost you specified when you setup the campaign versus your competitors.

Setup Process - Sponsored Link Ad and Keywords

AdWords Select is based upon driving highly targeted traffic to a web site via a set of keywords that are selected via Google's account management interface. There are two primary components to the setup process, creating your "sponsored link" ad and selecting your keywords. You start by creating a "sponsored link" ad that is subsequently inserted into Google's search results on the right hand column - targeted by keywords that you have selected. It only takes a few minutes to have your campaign go "live" after you've completed the setup process.

It's very important to spend quality time creating your sponsored link as this is the "online ad" that people will view in the midst of search results and competing sponsored links (in some cases). You have the ability to create a short headline coupled with two lines of text with approximately 35 characters per line - the headline must be succinct and hard hitting and the related text should backfill the headline with supporting words that convey what goods or services your company provides.

Keyword selection can be the most daunting task for setting up a new campaign - be prepared to spend some focused time working through multiple keywords to find those that you can afford. It typically takes 1-3 hours to find 10-20 keywords that are relatively low cost - however, if your budget is open-ended and you have sufficient marketing funds to pay $1-8. USD per keyword then it can take much less time. Your market focus is also another important variable that can impact the keyword selection process - if you're in a narrow market niche with only a small number of competitors then it is much easier and faster to setup a campaign.

Finally, be aware you can find some keywords that are very inexpensive, but Google will disallow these if they don't drive a minimum clickthrough amount of roughly less than 1% - you can start off with them, but they will be turned off after 7-14 days if they aren't driving sufficient clickthrough volume.

Wordtracker Keyword Research Tool

You may want to utilize other keyword analysis tools that will give you a broader selection and help you to understand what keywords are popular and searched on, which in turn ensures the keywords you do select will drive traffic and will not be disallowed by Google. Wordtracker (www.wordtracker.com) is an industry standard keyword analysis tool that those of us in the online advertising world (and many others) have used for years to help us understand what keywords are popular - their service is very low cost and easy to utilize via their web site.

Google Ranking WITHOUT ever submitting to Google!

A while back, I read an article that explained how to get a good google rating without ever submitting your site to their submission forms. Like you, I was kind of shocked by this statement so I decided to give it a try.

In the beginning, I used to submit my site all the time to Google but soon realized the magnitude of my failure. Of course, it's a known fact that Google relies solely on your link popularity and content.

Link Popularity?

What that means is the amount of links (yousite.com) listed on other sites that are related to yours! The more sites that link to you, the greater your popularity!

So again, Google depends on your link popularity! If you don't have a google rating (In other words, is your link found on google?) some sites WILL NOT link to yours. There are many sites that have a great google rating and have specific regulations to whom they will accept within their resource sections. They will specify that your site must be listed within Google and if they type in your site in the google search bar, your site should be listed within the top 5 sites.

Here's The Theory:

Of course you want all sites to link to you, especially the ones who already have a great google rating because that means that your site will be picked up by google. Some people only try to get links from those sites but just remember, we all had to start somewhere.

My suggestion is to do as many link exchanges as possible and especially make sure that each site is specifically categorized by their content. You will get penalized for having one page full of links to sites that do not relate to each other.

Another little "Timbit", try to keep your pages to 1-20 links within each page. Once you have 20 links, add a button to a (PAGE 2) and continue your resources that way.

Here's an example of our "Resource Section"
http://www.smartads.info/resources

You'll notice how each category has specific sites that get listed within them.

Ok, so I went a little off topic with respect to this article but you'll see how everything is connected together. Once google starts ranking your site, you don't want to leave any stone left un-turned.

So back to getting a google rank without submitting your site. Once you start performing link exchanges with other sites, just keep on going and going and I promise that eventually, Google will start picking up some of your links on other sites. Once this starts to happen you're google rank will rise.

So just keep doing what you're doing and let Google do it's own thing.

When your ready and you're link popularity grows, then you can submit your site to Google and reap the rewards.

So many companies do this process backwards and wonder why they don't get listed in Google. Or like what happened to me, Google lists your site right away but then in a couple of weeks, presto, your site is gone from their listing and your left confused as to why!

In this article I talked about Link Exchanges & popularity, feel free to learn more about this in my 2 part series:

How I Got to Be Number One on Google and Yahoo - Without Even Trying!

I’m no Internet guru and I didn’t set out to register number one on Google, or Yahoo, with one of my sites. But that’s the way it happened and much faster than I thought possible.

Go on, try it out, go to www.google.com or www.yahoo.com, key in ‘mystery shopping business’ and you’ll see the site for one of my books ranks number one on both. Or at least it did just a few hours ago.

How is it done?

Well, as I said, I didn’t set out to be number one, it sort of happened by accident. Or luck perhaps! In fact, until I read Phil Wiley’s MINISITE PROFITS I had no idea I’d used four of the easiest techniques already to almost guarantee a high placement on those two vital search engines.

Look at the site if you like, it’s at www.castleedenbooks.com - but unless you’ve read Phil’s book, you might not spot the simple techniques involved, which required no programming as such and no need whatsoever to study search engine positioning.

It’s all to do with what Phil calls ‘Keyword Density’ and it means making frequent reference to key words and phrases individuals might use to locate sites similar to yours.

Based on keyword density (though I didn’t know it at the time) this is what I had already done to get that high placement for my course: The Ultimate Guide to Starting Your Own Mystery Shopping Business:

1. The title of the book includes the phrase ‘mystery shopping business’.
2. The title of the Internet page includes the phrase ‘mystery shopping business’.
3. The phrase ‘mystery shopping business’ appears regularly throughout the text on several pages of the site.
4. The metatags, descriptions and keywords for my site include the phrase ‘mystery shopping business’.

Everyone knows how important keywords are to your chance of appearing high on the list of sites returned by a search engine when an individual uses specific words and phrases to access sites.

For most of us that means adding suitable words and phrases in the ‘Web Properties’ section of our web design software. That’s if you design your own pages using such as Microsoft Publisher or other newbie friendly program. Use ready-made templates and you might not get the chance to add keywords this way.

Not the big problem it once might have been! The fact is search engines select keywords from various areas of a site to determine how high it will rank when someone keys in the appropriate words. The more times a specific word or phrase appears, the more important your site will appear to search engines, and the more likely it will feature high in the rankings.

So all those references I’d already made to ‘mystery shopping business’ ranked my site number one. But there were in fact several other techniques I could have used to get that high placement as MINISITE PROFITS proved, sadly too late for one.

Those other techniques to increase keyword density?

* Choose a domain name based on appropriate keywords for your products. Mine, www.castleedenbooks.com - too late to change that, but my UK site for the same product became www.mystery-shopping.org.uk Excellent!
* Add articles containing keywords to your site and distribute them freely for others to publish online. Use keywords in titles and give a hyperlink back to your site.
* Include keywords in titles of graphics on your site. Do the same for downloads and bonus items, and dot them liberally into testimonials for your product. So when someone writes: “I loved your book”, ask permission to use the testimonial changed to “I loved The Ultimate Guide to Starting Your Own Mystery Shopping Business”.
* Promote a contest online to win a copy of The Ultimate Guide to Starting Your Own Mystery Shopping Business.
* Add a forum called ‘Meet Other Mystery Shopping Business Owners’…………….
* Include an ‘About the Author’ page and be sure to list the title of your latest book: The Ultimate Guide to Starting Your Own ….. Okay, enough already!

Get the idea? Of course you do, but don’t overdo it, the trick is to use, not confuse search engines, and certainly not to abuse them!

Be good and keyword density will be good to you!

Get Listed in Google Without Submitting Your Site

With Google delivering so much traffic, it is only normal to be eager to submit your page and have it indexed as soon as possible. However, submitting your page is not your only option, and it's not the best one. If this sounds strange keep reading.

Talking about its indexing process, Google says:

"We add thousands of new sites to our index each time we crawl the Web, but if you like, you may submit your URL as well. Submission is not necessary and does not guarantee inclusion in our index. Given the large number of sites submitting URLs, it's likely your pages will be found in an automatic crawl before they make it into our index through the URL submission form."

We can therefore draw two conclusions:

* 1. Submitting your site does not guarantee inclusion.
* 2. Most pages are found and indexed automatically, when Google crawls the web.

The Google folks have also made it clear that Google gives a page more importance when it is found through an automatic crawl. This can be easily verified when we consider how Google's PageRank system works: when page A links to page B, part of page A's PageRank trickles down to page B, increasing page B's PageRank (and, therefore, its importance). A manually submitted page will not enjoy this benefit.

Now that you know that manual submission is neither necessary nor the best way to go, what can you do to make Google find your pages?

The best way, at least in my personal experience, is to write an article on your area of expertise and submit it to popular article syndication sites like http://www.marketing-seek.com or http://www.ideamarketers.com . These sites will post your article, so that online publishers can use them for free in exchange for including your resource box at the end of the article. A resource box (a.k.a. bylines) is a small paragraph about yourself, written by you, which contains a link to your homepage.

In very little time, your article will show up in websites and ezines across the web. It will then be just a matter of time (usually days) before Google crawls those pages and finds your links. If you followed good web design practices and have included a link to a site map in your homepage, Google will follow it as soon as it finds your homepage, and all your pages will be indexed. It's as simple as that.

The most popular articles you can write are those that list a collection of tips related to your area of expertise. One of my most succesful articles is called "50 Surefire Web Design Tips", and it is nothing but a checklist of guidelines to follow when designing a website.

Another good way to help Google find your pages is to exchange links with other sites. Google will crawl those sites, find the links to your page, and add it to the index.

Finally, remember to optimize your pages before you try to get them listed, so that you have a better chance of ranking high in the search engine results pages (SERPs). After all, what good would it do to get your pages listed if nobody can find them?

High Google Rankings: Frequency vs. Positioning

There's an assumption that the higher a ranking or positioning you have with major search engines; the more people will beat a path to your web doorstep. But based on my experience, that's simply not true! There's another factor that is just as important and may actually drive more traffic to your site.

This big secret is frequency: The number of times your name appears when someone enters a key word in a search engine. I believe that the more times you appear in a search, the greater the likelihood of someone actually clicking through to your site.

How do you get frequent listings in search engines? Write quality content articles.

I’m an investment advisor and a while ago I started a second web site (www.successful-investment.com) to promote my weekly mutual fund newsletter, capture potential prospect names and house a library of my published articles.

To get people to the site, I naturally wanted to move up in the search engine food chain. I did the usual meta tag things, but that didn't cause my rise in the rankings. What did cause it surprised me.

One of my first articles (“Do lifestyle funds provide greater security?”) was submitted to some 30 article banks and web sites. Many of them reprinted it, which increased the number of appearances of my name associated with the topic. Since many of these sites were already ranked high on the search engines, I rode on their success.

Searching Google for "Lifestyle funds" produces over 3 million results. On the first page of results my article is listed four times, on the second page three times and on page three it's listed three times, and so on. If you were searching this term, with that much presence you would not likely overlook me.

In addition to generating hits on my web site from potential clients, my frequent listing in search engines yielded another benefit: I was invited to CNNfn's Hollywood studio to discuss my article “How to evaluate load vs. no load mutual funds.” They found me by searching Google for "load vs. no load." That produced almost 5 million results and on the first page my article appears three times, on the second three times and on the third three time as well—and some included my company listing. I was an authority!

In the past six months I have written and published 17 articles with the key search terms being part of the title. I pretty much get similar results with all of them. Why? I believe quality content is a key.

My core business is "personal investment management." If you search that on Google you will get about 11 million results. I currently rank number 8. And that's among the ‘who’s who’ in investment management, companies that invest big bucks to manipulate getting high rankings on search engines.

Can I improve on that? Probably not by trying to manipulate positioning, but definitely with frequency. And that comes from writing articles.

Now, maybe you like this idea but think you can't write quality articles. I'm not a writer, but my articles get picked up by e-zines and article banks all the time. How does that happen? It's actually simpler than you think.

There are two aspects to writing; 1. the actual content and 2. the writing style. If you’ve been in business for any length of time you have a wealth of information that you take for granted but others would love to know about. You should be able to write a 300 to 800 word article about your product or service area. Don’t worry about the style; just write quality content that will be helpful to your potential customers.

Although my writing skills are pretty sharp because I do a lot of writing, I would not consider them to be on the same level as a professional writer. So I have a second secret to success.

One of my clients is an award winning Hollywood writer and he “enhances” my articles. It’s usually not a lot of work, but at times I need a better transition from point A to point B. Since the content is clear and basically organized, he doesn't have to spend any time researching or "doing the heavy lifting." He can devote his attention to enhancing the quality of the presentation, and that doesn't take long or cost much.

[If you need help with writing you may contact Laren Bright (punster@earthlink.net) and tell him I sent you.]

I think you will find that writing articles becomes a lot easier once you have that kind of assistance. It certainly became stress-free for me when I didn't have to worry about form and could concentrate on my long suit: content.

It’s hard to beat the results that my articles have produced for me in terms of exposure, Google rankings and new clients. Given these facts I propose that frequency beats positioning anytime. Try it and see if it boosts your rankings and your business.

Five tips to improve your chances with Google et al.

"Dear David: I just created a website on baby toy safety. What should I do to make sure gazillions of people find me through the search engines?"

I can't promise you gazillions, but there are a few things you should do to make it easy for search engines to find you. I assume you have already decided to submit your site to the major search engines and directories. I assume that you will develop some sort of linking strategy (hopefully a better strategy than most websites use today). I also assume you will have picked key search terms for all the pages on your website.

Beyond that, here are my top five tips for making your website easy for those "gazillions" to find it.

1. A picture might be worth a thousand words, but search engines don't read pictures. Make sure your key search terms are written out in text, not part of a graphic title you hire somebody to prepare for you. That also means you should not just show pictures of toys, but also write out the names, and possibly a keyword description with the title.

2. Have several pages of articles related to your website's topic. Use a different keyword search term for each article. For instance, one article might use frequently the term "safe toys for babies", while another might use the term "baby safety".

3. What's the URL of your website? Your name won't help you there. Your key search term will. In this instance, I might pick www.baby-toy-safety.com, for example (if that is one of your top keyword phrases). Hire somebody who knows what he is doing to develop the right keyword strategy for you BEFORE you choose your domain name.

4. What's the title of your page? I don't know how many times I see titles such as "Article" or "Contact us". Don't expect the search engine robots to get all excited about that term. And don't expect anybody to search for that term, either. Much better to title your page "Free article on safe toys for babies" or "Contact the *Baby Toy Expert* today". By the way, this is the single most important place to include your keyword phrases.

5. What about that navigation menu that appears on every single page of your website? Does it say "Contact the baby toy expert?" Or "about the baby toy expert". Or links about baby toys?" Need I say more?

If your website is about life insurance, you have little hope of hitting the front pages of any search engine. "Life insurance" is such a competitive search engine marketplace. Unless, of course, people are searching for a very specific and rare niche. Even then, I suspect you will need much more than these five tips.

In fact, there are dozens, if not hundreds of things you can do to win the search engine race. These top five search engine optimization tips are a great start, whatever your website is about.

Google Loosing Fan Base?

"Nothing last forever but the Earth and sky." - from Dust in the Wind by Kansas.

Google has spent the last year evolving from a search engine to a giant media corporation. At birth Google was worried about only one thing, search - and that focus is why it became so successful. As Google spreads out many are wondering, are they doing it too fast? Are they letting quality slip? As any company evolves it will make mistakes, but has Google lost sight of its goals?

Google gained large distribution when Yahoo switched to it to drive down Inktomi stock price, only later to buy Inktomi. Google then came to power stealing traffic from Yahoo by providing clean, relevant results, and good search tools for surfers and webmasters alike. Many estimate that Google controls in excess of 75% of the search market.

Microsoft is still working on its search engine. Yahoo recently acquired Overture and is working behind closed doors in much the same way as MSN is. LookSmart has not updated Wise Nut in a long time, is hated by a large portion of the internet community, and is soon set to loose most of its distribution. And Ask Jeeves (owner of Teoma) has its top results powered by Google AdWords. With Google powering Yahoo, AOL and many other sites Google lacks a clear competitor today.

Right now Google can take its huge lead and extend it, or let it slip. No system is perfect and there will always be complaints, but I have to wonder if Google has forgotten why or how it became such an icon.

Many people have reported their Google Toolbar has been failing to return PageRank 90% of the time. While the hysteria around PageRank is somewhat overrated, it would be more assuring if the feature worked often.

One of the biggest problems search engines face today is a lack of quality content on the web. Earlier this year Google introduced a program called AdSense which displays its pay per click AdWords ads on many mid sized web sites. AdSense was designed to help pay to produce better content sites. Soon after Google introduced AdSense they included a related searches link set underneath the ads which made webmasters angry. This technique was siphoning off traffic from websites back to Google with no payment of any kind. Quickly Google had to repeal this move.

Google has also signed its AdSense members to a gagging clause. Beyond that gagging clause many have complained about getting kicked out for reasons they could not even challenge. Then for these same members to see how much money Google had owed them up to that point they had to agree to another set of terms that prevented them from criticizing the AdSense program. But the ads get worse.

Google was in a race with Overture to be the first to provide broad matching on its search terms. Google got there first. The idea behind broad matching is that it will allow Google to sell more of its ad space by providing ads on similar terms that were not yet sold. Overture allows different bid prices on different levels of matching. Google sets a single price on the ads, and this causes a huge problem for those who do not know how to use the system.

First the broad matching ads are less relevant. The term broad indicates far reaching and is self explanatory to its end effect on relevancy - which is in the exact opposite direction of Google's roots. This new type of broad matching matches many remotely close search phrases to those paid for by the advertiser. Couple near matching with the fact that ad sites and pages are scanned for relevancy (which is frequently inaccurate) and a big problem starts to come about with how to provide relevant ads on the syndicated results.

While many of the SEO experts know how to use negative keywords, tracking, and other advanced features, the smaller advertisers do not always have the resources or understanding to effectively use this new, more complex medium.

Now instead of rewarding businesses for hunting out the phrases that exactly match them (and thus providing higher quality search results), Google is rewarding the largest companies by allowing them to be lazy. Google is shooting itself in the foot by degrading relevancy for short term profits.

Large companies bid on generic cover all terms at prices where they loose money on every transaction until the competition goes under. Not only do these name brands enjoy higher click through rates (due to brand recognition), but those with stockpiles of cash can afford to burn through thousands without a blink. Many small sites can not, thus the sad state of internet media is that it is now consolidating much the same way as offline media is.

It gets even worse for the small website now though. These same ads which they are using may now appear on pages that sometimes do not even remotely fit the ads. I was looking at the GMT clock time zones to ensure my clock was set at the right time today (so I missed daylight saving time). The page which had the different time zones listed a few cities and a group of AdWords. Most of these AdWords were targeting Las Vegas (most likely the most expensive US city). Las Vegas was not even one of the cities mentioned on the list. Not a relevant ad set. Bad for all parties involved.

What is the result of this change to AdWords? Lower quality ads at a higher price. Nick Denton predicted that the expansion of these ads across the web (especially coupled with decreased relevancy) that users will start to ignore them. Much the same way as banners have faded, only a few years may be left before this advertising medium chips away and destroys itself.

What about the regular Google search results? At least they are strong, right? Sometimes they are rather week. Some clients have had search results dominated by the same sets of interlinking sites. Aiming to fight spam, Google is acknowledging this fact by incorporating a new major algorithmic change on the web live. My site went from #17 to #7 to not in the top 1000 websites for "search engine marketing". While I still have customers that need work done on their sites, this sporadic re mixing is not refreshing in my mind, as well as in the minds of many of my customers.

I have already had concerned emails arrive from friends worried about loosing thousands of dollars a month as their top listing evaporated. All I can tell them is wait and see.

Much of what people have feared would happen to Google after it goes public has already happened. It is clear that competitive open source alternative search engines such as Nutch are not desired so much as required.

Google Bring Deskbar Search To Windows Desktop. Now Any Website Can Take Advantage Of This Search Technology

Google's premier of desktop search proves that the desktop is an extremely valuable marketing real estate. Google, which holds about 75% of the Internet search market, just introduced "Deskbar" – a small desktop application that allows users to search Google directly from their desktops. Google currently rules the Internet, but positioning themselves on the desktop gives them the power to rule not only the Internet, but also the entire personal computer.

Unlike other interactive marketing avenues, such as website and email, the desktop is virtually free of advertisements and promotional materials. The desktop is competitor free and just waiting to be claimed.

The advantages of desktop search are not limited to Google and their major search engine competitors though. Any website with search technology can take advantage of this new marketing channel including e-commerce and shopping websites, reference sites, online magazines and news sites, and more.

So, if you have content on your site that visitors or clients are interested in searching through on a regular basis, what better way to keep them coming back for more than offering them a desktop search tool? If you could offer them a useful downloadable desktop search application, you could ensure that they will remember you and search your site before your competitors.

Developing a desktop search tool yourself would be quite costly. Luckily, there is a ready-made desktop search tool that can be customized to work with any website's search.

PromoClock has developed a new desktop search technology that turns your one-time visitors into steady traffic by allowing them to search your site directly from their desktops. To search your site, users simply type their search terms in the desktop search box and click on the "search" button. Users keep the search box running in the background at all times – giving them constant reminders and opportunities to search and patronize your site.

PromoClock's desktop search box is not just a simple search tool. It is a full marketing application that brands and promotes your website directly on desktops. Each Search Box can be custom designed based on your logo, website images or even Flash presentations. Further enhance your desktop search box with custom menu entries, banner ads and even your own desktop icons. You may also send time-sensitive alerts for added usefulness and advertising exposure. Alerts can include site related tips, product coupons, company news, event notifications and more. For sites looking to entice users with more than just a desktop search, PromoClock is also a useful desktop alarm clock that tells time and activates personal alarms.

So has Google claimed the desktop search? Maybe for now, but with PromoClock's easy and inexpensive desktop search box, other sites will be soon to follow.

Google's Site Targeting: Giving Control Back to the Advertiser

Keywords: Google Pay Per Click, PPC advertising, Google Site Targeting
More Details about Google's Site Targeting and PPC here.
Summary: How to use Google's Site Targeting OPtion

By Merle .
If you use Google's Adwords program you know that in the past you had no control over where your text ads were displayed. By adding "site tar- getting" Google has finally given control back to the advertisers.

Site Targeting allows you to pick and choose the websites you would like your ads to appear on. Of course, the websites you get to choose from must be in the Google network and be displaying "Adsense Ads" on their pages.

Now don't think that site targeted ads will be replacing Google's "Keyword Targeted Ads". It's simply another tool at the advertisers disposal and is an option, not mandatory or required.

The program works differently then the normal "keyword targeted ads" where you only pay per click. With site targeting you pay CPM (cost per thousand impressions). The minimum bid per thousand is currently .25 but if you're trying to appear on high traffic sites you'll need to bid higher to win top placement due to the competition for these spots.

Remember, you'll pay for being shown whether anyone clicks on your ad or not. To set up a "site targeted" campaign you'll need to log into your Adwords account and go to your "campaign summary page" then select "create a new site targeted campaign". You can name the sites where you want your ads to appear or type in a list of words that describe your website and Google will take that input and come back with sites you can choose from.

Keep in mind that this type of ad campaign can be expanded text ads and animated image ads. Giving you more flexibility and options.

If you've been waiting to pick your own audience and hand pick the websites that display your ads, you'll want to take a closer look at this advertising option. For more information see ...

2 Powerful Ways to Build Profit Using Google

Keywords: google, link popularity, search engine optimization, google adsense, multiple revenue streams
More Details about creating multiple income streams here.
Summary: Learn how to earn more money from the Google ads you run and also how to make Google repeatedly crawl and love your Web site so that you make more sales.

By Marnie Pehrson

Anyone who seeks to promote him or herself online is familiar with Google, the search engine with the runaway stock prices. I'm always on the lookout for new and innovative revenue streams so when I ran into these two that involve Google, I couldn't resist passing them along. The first way I'll share with you shows you how to get Google to pay you more for the ads you run for them. The second will tell you how to use Google's new algorithms to bring more traffic to your Web site so that you can sell more products/services once people arrive.

Increasing Responses from Google AdSense

I learned something phenomenal last week about how to dramatically increase revenues from running Google Adsense on my content-rich web sites. I was running them at the top of the site like banner ads or along the right in an offset advertisement box. A colleague suggested that I should be earning significantly more from my Google Adsense campaigns and gave me a few pointers.

First, he said to embed them into the content of the pages. Don't put them at the top like a banner ad. Make them look like viable content on the page.

Second, he advised that I make them blend in with the page. Don't set them off in another color. Make them have the same background color of the portion of the page on which they are located. For example, if an article on your site has a white background, choose a completely white background for the ad. Don't put a box around it, just let it reside alongside the text of the article

He also suggested that certain spots on the page draw the viewer's eyes better than others. So I went to Google's "Ad Settings" page and noticed that they had a link for Adsense Optimization Tips which give you ideas for increasing response rates. On this page they showed a heat map of where most people's eyes travel when looking at a Web site. I repositioned my ads to these locations.

Instantly, upon making these changes, my click through rates were 4.6 times what they were! As a result, I quadrupled my Google ad revenues overnight! Give it a try and let me know how it works for you.

Getting Google to Love Your Web Site

Everyone knows that Google is the "Mother" of traffic and lately they're getting picky and dropping listings and rankings for thousands of web sites per day. Top ranked sites are watching their rankings -- and traffic -- plummet literally overnight.

After filing their recent US Patent Application 20050071741 on March 31, 2005, Google is now telling you the exact scorecard they use to rank your web sites. Bottom line. Google is cracking down -- Big Time! If your goal is to get more traffic and dominate the search engines, Google is telling you "how" to do it.

Let me explain... Did you know that Google now checks the year your domain name was first registered? It's a known fact that search engine spammers rarely own web sites that are 6 years old. 6 months? Probably.

And that is just ONE "X" on your scorecard if this applies to you. But, this is only a "general" guideline that Google follows. Google now places huge emphasis on links. They want to see a slow, gradual number of incoming links to your websites. And not just ANY links either. These links need to be a variety of anchor text links. If all your anchor links are the same -- look out -- your site rankings could drop or your site complete removed from their directory in a heartbeat.

Also, Google is telling us that they look for relevant, quality content on your websites (no surprise) and that Page Rank is once again a good indicator of a web site's "authority" (and relevancy). Odds are, your web sites are not "authority" web sites that started back in 2000. Most people today probably have very few incoming links to their websites -- and hardly any anchor text links at all.

What should you do? How would you like to "piggyback" off high search engine ranking, high page rank web sites that are loaded with thousands of keyword-rich, optimized pages? ... and these same sites are willing to give you hundreds of incoming links (often anchor text) to your web sites within 7 days at NO cost!

So that easily solves your link problem, right? Wait, it gets better... these same "authority" web sites have been around for 5 years or more and want to advertise YOUR business, product and web site to the thousands of visitors that they attract every day. That's right, it's like getting them to run your Google or Overture ads on their site, but you don't pay a penny for it.

And best of all, I'm not talking about using link farms or link generator software. This is all totally legitimate, Google-approved, above-board stuff -- no short-lived tactics or trickery here. How do I know this? Because I own one of these powerhouse "authority" sites that give people this kind of exposure. I started www.IdeaMarketers.com back in 1999, and through this high-content site we give 1,000's of people, just like you, valuable links to their web sites - links that help them build link popularity and in the end build revenue streams of their own. I've been watching it work on www.IdeaMarketers.com for 1,000's of individuals (including myself) for years.

Plus, I've been studying and watching the marketplace and doing everything within my power to make sure we give you the best possible anchor links back to your sites. This is why we've added the ability for writers to add a "primary keyword phrase" to all their articles at IdeaMarketers so they have high-powered anchor text linking to their articles and from their articles to their web sites.

Most people who write articles for promotional purposes are already aware of the power of link popularity from the big article repositories, but did you know that there are literally 100's of other sites that will accept your articles? Can you imagine how long it would take you to submit your article to all those sites? Things just got easier though. My long-time associate, Jason Potash, has created one of the simplest tools I've ever seen for submitting your articles to literally hundreds of sites that accept articles. I've obtained a copy of the software. It's sitting right here on my computer. I used it to submit articles, and frankly, I was astonished at how simple it was.

And even though most people would say it's not such a smart move to send all my wonderful writers off to submit their articles to my "competitors," I feel I'd be doing our writers a major disservice not to tell them about this software. Plus, my motto is that there's plenty of room out there for all of us - right? To learn more about this powerful new software, go to http://www.ideamarketers.com/announcer.cfm

I hope these two ideas prove to be as valuable to you as they have been to me.

Winning the ® Google AdSense War

Keywords: Google Adsense, top paying keywords
More Details about top paying keywords here.
Summary: It's possible to earn a four or even five-figure monthly income with Google AdSense and content websites. Here's the secret!

By Willie Crawford

Some owners of content sites are earning four and even five-figure incomes per month selling "nothing." They're doing this by selling their targeted traffic to other websites through Google's AdSense program.

If you're not familiar with ®AdSense, it's where ®Google pays website owners ("publishers") to run ads on their sites. Google accepts paid ads from advertisers, and then shares this revenue with the publishers who allow these ads to be displayed on their sites. They pay based upon clicks generated from the publishers' sites.

Many publishers have discovered that running Google AdSense ads is more lucrative, and less trouble, than marketing their own products or services. So an entire industry has sprang up around monetizing websites using AdSense and other pay-per-click programs.

The "industry" is mature enough that seminars are even held that teach how to best monetize your content sites. I'll be attending a seminar, in New Orleans, Louisiana, on September 9th - 11th, 2005, that has this very focus. You can read more about it at: http://WillieCrawford.com/new-orleans-seminar.html

Since MOST people I've communicated with aren't earning four or five-figure incomes per month, let's examine how you increase your chances of earning these amounts.

First of all, your website has to be on a topic (a niche) where people are spending lots of money. There are niches where advertisers often spend $40 - $50 per click... just to get visitors to their websites. Obviously, these visitors buy "things" on these websites that make it worthwhile to pay that much for the traffic.

In case you're wondering what keywords any "sane" marketer would spend $50 on a single click for, read on...

Certain visitors to websites, that later convert to customers, could literally be worth thousands, even millions, to marketers. These marketers know the lifetime value of their visitors, and have the conversion rates calculated! Markets where customers can be this lucrative include legal/lawsuits, medical, higher education, real estate, new and used vehicles, investments, travel, and products offering residual income. There are many others.

I actually have a list of over 9000 keywords that I consult when building a new site, or optimizing an existing site. Doesn't it makes perfect sense to create sites that attract visitors with a high value-per-visitor?

You can grab a copy of my list along with a few personal notes on how to monetize these high-value keywords at: http://9000TopPayingKeywords.com

The keywords on the list above range from 93 cents to $108 per click. There ARE higher priced keywords but you probably don't want to focus on them since the competition can be incredibly cutthroat. There are niches where your competitors will actually sabotage your efforts. Money does that to some people :-)

It makes economic sense to build a site around topics where people are actually spending money already.

It makes sense to target a market where people have money to spend - and they expect to spend it on products similar to yours. In that sense, you can even set up site designed to generate traffic for governmental agencies, foundations, charities, etc. It's all about getting in front of the traffic and then re-directing that traffic to those willing to pay for it.

When setting up content sites, it's important that you not violate the terms-of-service at the pay-per-click management firm that you plan on using. For example, Google actually tells you that you should not build sites just for their AdSense program. Yet, they need sites to display their customers’ ads in order for their program to work.

It's a delicate balancing act. Google wants to deliver relevant clicks to their customers. They know that traffic coming from "junky" or "spammy" sites may not convert as well for their customers. This would lower their customers ROI, and lead to many unhappy customers. This would drive Google's customers to their ever-growing competitors.

Google wants webmasters that have quality, targeted traffic to run AdSense Ads. When you set up a free blog on Google's Blogger.com they even have the AdSense invitation "programmed" into the signup process.

So how DO you win the Google AdSense War and get your share of that multi-billion dollar advertisers' revenue stream? You build high-quality content sites that focus on niches where people are spending money. It's as simple as that. You let those already doing it teach you what works best - it's a easy as that!

Google Updates its Toolbar with New Rating System

Keywords: Google, search engines, ranking with search engines, search engine positioning
More Details about http://www.EzineAdAuction.com here.
Summary: Google introduces a new page ranking feature to their toolbar

By Merle
Google recently announced a change to its toolbar software which includes two new buttons: a happy face and a frowning face, which users can click on to rate a webpages as they visit them.

The toolbar is free and only works with Internet Explorer 5.0 and runs on Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000 or XP. The toolbar helps you find just what you're looking for online without returning to Google's homepage to perform new searches. Once installed on your system it automatically appears under the Internet Explorer toolbar.

Google's toolbar offers these useful features:

Search Site: This function allows you to search the site you're using to find exactly what you're looking for.

Page Rank: Check Google's ranking of any page you're visiting.

Page Info: Allows you to access more information about a page including pages that link back to it and other similar pages. You can also highlight and find every instance of your search words as they appear on the page which may be helpful in your search optimization efforts.

The new voting system that has been added is not readily apparent after installing it. If you have Google's old toolbar installed you'll also need to uninstall it before installing this beta version.

To get to the new smiley face ranking system to show up on the bar, you'll need to click on Google's logo located on the far left and choose "toolbar options." Scroll down to the "page information" and put a check mark in the "voting buttons" box. Save your changes and look at the bar again. It should now contain a happy face and a frowning face. These faces allow you to rate websites as you visit them, in essence giving them a "thumbs up" or "thumbs down."

So far Google is saying this new voting system is simply a test, but if they do keep it and start using it to rank pages on their site it could make a major impact on search optimization firms and others who are trying to get a top Google listing.

Sort of reminds me of my elementary school days and the stickers the teachers would put on my homework. So what rating is your site going to get, a happy or a sad face?

How To Start With Absolutely Nothing And Create Wealth online in 30 days or less

Keywords: internet marketing, web marketing, Joint venture, joint ventures, collaboration, jv,small business,
More Details about www.jvmining.com here.
Summary: How to incorporate the most powerful marketing strategy on the planet to explode your profits practically overnight.

By Shane Kukec

Without a doubt, if you asked me, Shane if there was only 1 marketing strategy that you could use on the Internet, what would it be? Without hesitation I would say joint Ventures. Joint Ventures are easily the most lucrative Marketing Strategy ever invented and if you learn to do it right, will likely be the ONLY marketing strategy you will ever need to use.

A Good Internet Joint Venture is your shortcut to success. It can send you more qualified internet traffic rushing to your site in the shortest amount of time than anything I've ever seen! And it can mean bringing your product to market without spending one single penny of your own money!

In it's simplest form, Joint Ventures have to do with 2 businesses (or more) joining forces to leverage off of each others success, assets and/or expertise. There are hundreds of different variations but let me just give you one simple example:

One variation of a simple type of joint venture partnership used most frequently would be where one business provides a product for sale, the sales message and the product delivery while the other business provides the recommendation for that product to their own list of subscribers/prospects and receiving a commission based on the sales generated through that recommendation.

The benefits are great. You can build your subscriber list, leverage off of your partners infrastructure like using their existing servers, software etc where you don’t have to pay a dime. Even get instant credibility - If you pick the right JV partner, you can acquire instant credibility and reputation with their customers and lists. Credibility sells. Let me give you an example, if you created a book on "how to acquire real estate", you could certainly make MANY more sales if you JV'd with Donald Trump and put his name on the book as the co-author, building your reputation and increasing your credibility at the same time. Are you starting to see the incredible power of this strategy?

Now I know that some people may think that Joint Ventures are difficult to do,but if they are telling you this, then I wouldn’t take anything they tell you at face value because they’re either lying to you or don’t understand it themselves.

Let me show you how easy it is. Here’s typically what I do when rolling out a new product. In this example, let’s pretend that I just completed a new ebook on Penny Stock Trading and have setup a web site with an affiliate program. I would go to google, do a search on keywords like "penny stock", "penny stock trading", "stock market strategies" etc..you get the picture. The top sites on the first page are typically your target partnersbecause since they appear on the first page you can bet they have lots of business, traffic, subscribers and customers. I would visit each site to make sure that they are right for my product and then I would first send them a very brief email asking them if they would be interested in marketing my product in exchange for a high commission as an incentive.

Typically in this email you should briefly introduce yourself and your product. Describe your product and the benefits it would offer to their Newsletter subscribers, customers and/or web site visitors. Ask them politely if they wouldn’t mind responding to you asap and provide your contact information if they are interested in marketing your product. Also very important, you need to give them access to this product FOR FREE!..so that they can review the product and feel comfortable about endorsing it. These site owners have spent years building their business, lists and cultivating their lists to be very responsive. Any endorsement they do to their huge lists could mean thousands of dollars in your pocket for very little effort. More than half of them won’t reply. That’s ok, move on it’s a numbers game.

Remember if just one of these super affiliates decides to market your product you’re golden. Once they contact you all you need to do is setup their affiliate account and commission. This will ensure that their commission will be calculated properly when they endorse your product to their list. Just do this over and over again to all of the relevant site owners. Try doing 3 or 4 per day and after a week you’ll have 4 or 5 good JV partners willing to market your product. Within a week you’ll be on your way to making thousands of dollars per month, all for 5 hours worth of work and at NO COST to you. Isn’t that easy?

The great thing about this strategy is that you don't even need your own product to profit from this strategy and here's how. Find someone else's product, join their affiliate program (make sure it's a two tier program), then use my strategy to find super affiliates that would be willing to endorse this product to their list and/or advertise on their HIGH traffic site, then get these Super Affiliates to join the affiliate program under you and you can collect a HUGE amount of 2nd tier commission by having these Super Affiliates do all the advertising for you, AND you can do this over and over. Think of the INCREDIBLE potential!

That's all there is to it.

11 Extraordinary Ways To Expand Your Subscriber List

Keywords: subscriber list, increase, ezine, newsletter, develop, Catherine Franz, coach, The Abundance Center,
More Details about http://www.abundancecenter.com here.
Summary: 11 ways to expand your mailing list

Here are 11 ways to expand your subscriber list:

1. Use a conversational writing tone. It makes a connection. Yet, don't get lax on the grammar and spelling. Use personal pronouns (I, me, you and your). Limit the percentage of I's to half or less of the yous.

2. Spread the knowledge even further by asking your readership to forward a copy of your ezine to family members, friends, colleagues, or co-workers. Create a "please forward this ezine to" line or two. Give them an incentive, offer a free but-not-free item. This can be challenging to design.

3. Do you give presentations with slides or a projection system? Add a paragraph about your ezine and how to get it on the test slide. A test slide is the slide you leave up there when they are seating themselves. Leave it displayed until a few minutes before your presentation and then turn it off. By turning it off, it creates a "loss feeling" and they will pay attention to it the next time you turn it on.

Turn the system on with the test slide displayed and then switch to the next slide. The next slide can explain how they can get your free but-not-for-free product and the directions on how to receive it. Return to this same slide at the end of your presentation.

4. At this same presentation, pass around a clipboard asking them if they want to register for ezine. Start passing at the beginning or even before you start. Use a short piece, different colored paper, with a note about the free but-not-free item. Give them three incentives to register at that time.

5. Send out a press release every time you have a new free but-not-free item available. Send whenever you have new context, new article published, or whenever anything else occurs. Since press releases require special writing, you might want to delegate this, especially if you are challenged with writing from another perspective. If you choose to learn the lingo, you can learn the how-tos with a Google search: Search example: "press release" and "how to". Leave in the quote marks. Don't be nervous about sending out too many, some are always missed. http://www.prweb.com/ is a great place to post your press releases.

6. Locate web sites that give out awards for outstanding ezines. Apply and keep applying. Keep tweaking. Look at previous winners and model. When you do win one, post it everywhere on your site and on every issue of your ezine for a year. Also, send out a press release when you do. If they create a press release as well, ask to use that one. Make copies of theirs and give it out at networking events. Remember, you can't win the lotto unless you play. So, get in the game, and apply. Try: http://emailuniverse.com/bestezines/ or search on Google with: "ezine award".

7. I'm frequently asked, "How much information should I ask for?" My recommendation is to KISS your subscriber form -- "keep it short and simple." Ask for the e-mail address and/or their first name. If you ask for their first name, tell them why. Example: We like to personalize our correspondence with our subscribers."

8. Set up section for past issues of your e-newsletters. I recommend just listing their main topic or name of the article and not by date. People don't like to read things that they consider "old news". If you use a pdf format to deliver past issues there are pros and cons. The pros are: pdf files are smaller to store and send. The con is that you loose the opportunity for tagging the item for search engine listing.

9. After you post your articles in the ezine, expand or submit as is to multi-media web sites. Possibility: http://www.goarticles.com. Locations where publishers and editors will pick up the article. Normally, there are no fees paid, just opportunity for visibility. When published send out a press release. Link their site, not yours, in the press release, Send them a copy of the release.

10. Readers are tired of not getting any value and are dropping off lists fast. faster than ever. To keep them there you MUST provide valuable information (their perception not yours). The 25/75% rule (you give them 25% and sell them the remaining 75%) is acceptable. After reading thousands of ezines, I found many publishers don't come close to providing that percentage.

11. Add an invitation to all your automatic e-mail signatures. Also, mention the free but-not-free item of the month. Include an expiration date for that free but-not- free offer. Change the e-mail signatures weekly to maintain interest.

Summary: Creating a product from scratch that you can sell on the Internet will take some time to do. Therefore, the quickest way to have a product that you can sell on the Internet is to purchase resell rights to a product.

Creating a product from scratch that you can sell on the Internet will take some time to do.

Writing a book, for example, can take weeks or months to complete. If you're not a writer, or if you've never written before - this can be a daunting task. You will either not start, or abandon it halfway.

However, you can instantly get a book to sell and keep most or all of the money you generate from it if you can find an author willing to sell you resell rights to his book. This is rare, but you may be lucky enough to find a few that you really like.

I'm using a book as an example here, but it can well be any product. I use books because of its awesome power of duplication that suits an Internet Business perfectly, especially when they're in electronic form (e-books). More on this duplication and leverage principles in upcoming issues (hang on to your seats, it'll BLOW your mind!).

Resell Rights can come with the product together (which means that you buy the product, and you can immediately resell it), or you can buy it separately from the product (which means that you buy the product, and then the resell rights to it so that you can resell it).

Either way - you can now have an INSTANT product by just paying for the resell rights. Then all you concentrate on is setting up your Internet Business, and marketing it to your Prospects.

You've cut short your time by weeks or months in not having to create a product of your own.

Resell Rights ==========

Books with Resell Rights usually come in 2 flavors:

1. Basic Resell Rights ================ Here you have the right to resell the book to your Customers, but your Customers have no right to resell them.

2. Master Resell Rights ================= Here you have the right to resell the book to your Customers, as well as the right to resell the Basic Resell Rights itself to your Customers. Your Customers who buy both the book and the Basic Resell Rights can then resell the same book to THEIR Customers. Sometimes Master Resell Rights are bundled together with the purchase of the book only.

This means that you don't have to pay separately for Master Resell Rights.

Depending on your objectives, either type of Resell Rights can be suitable for you. If you don't want to have too many competitors, Basic Resell Rights is the right one for you. If you want to have many competitors, then Master Resell Rights is right for you.

It boggles the mind of some people who can't understand why anybody would want to create more competition for himself.

The simple answer is this - the more competition you have, the more money you will make! I reveal this totally amazing concept in my awesome Mini-Encyclopedia at http://www.internetbizmodels.com which contains eye-popping, jaw-dropping and heart-stopping information on 19 different Killer Internet Business Models as practised by TOP Entrepreneurs from around the world.

Discover what to do, step by step, and what tools and software you require to get your Internet Business up and running without having to waste your time and money doing the wrong things, from the beginning.

I've spent 9 years creating it, and it actually formed part of my full 4-day Boot Camp that my attendees paid up to $2,000 each to attend. At only $97 WITH Master Resell Rights as a bonus to it - this means that ANYBODY can buy a copy, and they can immediately resell it - as can their Customers, and their Customers' Customers, and so on.

As I've mentioned earlier - the more Customers you have who can resell this Mini-Encyclopedia, and the more Customers THEY have who can do the same thing - the MORE money YOU can make!

Buy it now and find out how this is accomplished!
